Present Trustees

The Mahim Dargah Trustees are responsible for strategic responsibility and governance. They set a moral example for the Mahim Dargah organisation by representing the ideals and values that define it. They also hold ultimate authority over decision-making and policy implementation, helping to ensure that processes are efficient, transparent, and in compliance with laws and regulations. Their ultimate priority is to protect their assets while delivering on their mission of helping people with faith-centred healing, teaching, and enlightenment.

Mr. Muhammad Suhail Yakub Khandwani

Managing Trustee

Mr. Muhammad Suhail Yacub Khandwani is a well-known figure in Indian social circles, belonging to the distinguished Khandwani family, known for their deep sense of trust and faith. The family has a rich history of being the first to introduce a car to the desert kingdom and pioneering Hajj voyages by sea between Mumbai and Jeddah through their business, Khandwani Steam Navigation Company.

Mr. Suhail Khandwani is a multifaceted individual with various professional and social affiliations. He is a member of organizations such as the Maharashtra Chambers of Housing Industry (MCHI), Practicing Engineers Architects & Town Planners Associates (PEATA), Bombay Management Association (BMA), Property Owners Association (POA), The Federation of Accommodation Industry of India (FOAII), and the National Real Estate Development Council (NAREDCO). He is a well-respected leader in the community, serving as the Patron of World Memon Organisation, Vice President of All India Memon Jamat Federation, President of Khandwani Jamat, Vice President of Memon Chamber of Commerce, and Managing Trustee of several institutions such as the Mahim Dargah, Haji Ali Dargah, and Al Barkaat Malik Muhammad Islam English School, which has over 3,000 students. Additionally, he is a General Council Member of several social and academic institutions, including the prestigious Anjuman-I-Islam. Mr. Khandwani is also a patron of the Association of Muslim Professionals (AMP) and Muslim Seva Sangh (MSS), which have a combined membership of over 1 million people.

He has received numerous accolades for his philanthropic efforts, including an Honorary Doctorate for Social Service from the Regional Research Centre of the University of Asia. He holds prominent positions in various educational, social, medical, and cultural organizations and is known for his astute business acumen, particularly in real estate, restaurants, and commodity trading. With a legacy spanning over 50 years and a keen eye for innovation and design, he has led the Khandwani Group to new heights of success and excellence. He leads a team of multifaceted professionals who provide the foundation for the company’s cutting-edge operations.

As a visionary philanthropist and social entrepreneur, Dr. Suhail Khandwani has been instrumental in not just elevating the Khandwani Group, but also the communities associated with it. He strives for holistic growth and achieves this through the vision of the Khandwani Group. Mr. Mohammed Farouk Suleman Darvesh

Chairman

Mr. Mohammed Farouk Suleman Darvesh is a highly experienced and respected professional in the timber industry and has been a trustee since January 2007. He started his career in the industry at the age of 16 and has since become the managing director of the Farouk Sodagar Darvesh Group and Associate Lumbers Group. 

As the Chairperson of the Pir Makhdum Saheb Charitable Trust/ WAKF, he has made significant contributions to encourage education and medical aid for those in need by introducing a system for examining and granting scholarships and aid. He has also played an important role in executing efficient governance and financial management for the Trust. His family has been associated with the Dargah for over 100 years.

Dr. Mudassir Nisar Lambe

Trustee of Pir Makhdum Saheb Charitable Trust/ WAKF And Member of the Maharashtra State Board of WAKF

Dr. Mudassir Nisar Lambe is a practicing doctor who runs several dispensaries and diagnostic centers in India. He is also involved in the import-export business and is the director of Lambe Holiday Inn. He has a background in politics and has been a social worker, working towards the upliftment of slum societies’ worker groups. 

He was appointed as a Special Executive Officer by the government of Maharashtra and has been offering voluntary services as the convener of the medical wing of the Pir Makhdum Saheb Charitable Trust/ WAKF since 2008. He has helped serve more than 100 patients daily through various medical camps. He was appointed as a Trustee in 2012 and has since been responsible for establishing a health and fitness center and an ICCU ambulance at the Trust. His enthusiasm and motivation have elevated the morale of all stakeholders in the Trust.
